The WH1602B series is one of WINSTAR's most popular 16x2 LCD display modules, designed to meet a wide range of system integration needs. Each module features a 16-character × 2-line format, supports either 5V or 3V power supply, and is equipped with a standard controller IC—ST7066 or RW1063, depending on the interface type. These modules include 8-character CGRAM for user-defined characters and provide optional access to low-level commands for advanced control.
Unlike many standard COB character modules that require an external control board for serial communication, WINSTAR's WH1602B1 (SPI) and WH1602B3 (I2C) integrate the interface controller directly on the COB. This makes the 16x2 LCD display easier to implement, reduces component count, and simplifies PCB layout. With only two I/O pins required, this design enables flexible control via hardware or software, making system integration quick and efficient.
This series supports multiple interface options—including Parallel, SPI, and I2C—to meet diverse application requirements. If your design requires a 6800 parallel interface, choose model WH1602B. For systems requiring Traditional or Simplified Chinese font support, we recommend our graphic LCD module WG14432B.
