WH1602A is a 16x2 dot matrix LCD display module with a COB (Chip on Board) structure and a 2.26-inch diagonal display size. It uses a 5x8 dot matrix character format and measures 84.0 x 44.0 x 13.5 mm, with an active area of 56.2 x 11.5 mm.
By default, WH1602A is configured with the ST7066 controller IC and a 6800 4/8-bit parallel interface. SPI and I2C versions are also available with the RW1063 controller IC:
The module operates at 5V by default, with a 3V option also available. When operating at 3V, the negative voltage supply is limited to 3V. WH1602A is available with or without an LED backlight. Backlight options include yellow-green, blue, green, white, amber, red, and RGB.
For versions using the ST7066 controller IC, several character font ROM options are available, including English/Japanese, Western European, Eastern European, Scandinavian European, Cyrillic (Russian), and Hebrew/Arabic. The appropriate font ROM version can be selected according to the required character set.
