The WO1602N model is a COG (Chip on Glass) structure VATN LCD module featuring a configuration of 16 characters by 2 lines, utilizing VA Negative Transmissive LCD technology, and is equipped with a white LED backlight. This module is built-in with an ST7028-1A IC; it communicates via an I2C interface, has a viewing direction at 6 o'clock, a duty cycle of 1/17, and a bias of 1/5.
The effective area size of the WO1602N is the same as that of our existing COG LCD module WO1602G and COB LCD module WH1602B, but they have different pinouts. The WO1602G features a metal pinout, while the WO1602N is designed with an FPC (Flexible Printed Circuit) pinout for easy control using a ZIP connector. The backlight AK pins are also soldered onto the FPC, and a hook is added to the side of the backlight mechanism to secure the entire module. This design eliminates the need to reserve space on the PCB for soldering the display, making it more convenient for repairs or replacement with new displays.
The supply voltage for the logic of the WO1602N ranges from 3V to 3.6V, with a typical value of 3.3V. This module can operate at temperatures from -20℃ to +70℃, while its storage temperature range is from -30℃ to +80℃.
The VATN (Vertical Alignment Twisted Nematic) display offers superior performance compared to traditional STN/FSTN and DFSTN displays. The WO1602N features higher contrast and wider viewing angles than standard STN/FSTN/DFSTN displays. It is a negative mode display with a transmissive polarizer. In VATN LCD displays, liquid crystals naturally align vertically to the glass substrates.
