The WINSTAR WH1602D is a versatile display LCD 16x2 module built with a 16x2 character dot matrix format. It features two rows with sixteen characters per row, and each character is constructed using a 5x8 dot matrix (with cursor support) for clear, readable output. This LCD 16x2 module is ideal for a wide range of applications requiring compact and reliable text display.
This display LCD 16 x 2 module adopts a COB (Chip-On-Board) structure and includes screw holes on the PCB for secure mounting in end-product designs. The module measures 2.26 inches diagonally, making it a compact choice for embedded system interfaces.
The WH1602D supports a standard +5V power supply and also offers a +3V version. For the +3V configuration, a negative voltage option is available for contrast adjustment. The LED backlight can be driven via PIN1 and PIN2, or using the dedicated A (anode) and K (cathode) pins depending on system requirements.
By default, this lcd 16 x 2 display is equipped with the ST7066 controller IC and supports the 6800 4/8-bit parallel interface. For applications that require serial communication, it is also available with SPI and I2C interfaces through the RW1063 controller IC—offering flexibility for various system architectures.
The WH1602D series offers multiple LED backlight color options, including blue, green, white, yellow-green, amber, red, and RGB LEDs. It also supports a range of font options depending on the controller IC version, such as English/Japanese, English/Western European, English/Scandinavian European, and English/Cyrillic (Russian), making it suitable for multilingual or international projects.
