Description

WH1602L1 is a 16x2 character dot matrix LCD module featuring a built-in ST7066 controller IC. Its default interface is the 6800 4/8-bit parallel interface. The WH1602L1 model optionally supports negative voltage operation. This display is also available with SPI and I2C interfaces by using the RW1063 controller IC, offering flexible integration options for various applications.

The WH1602L1 series has a default operating voltage of 5V, with an optional 3V configuration. When operating at 3V, the negative voltage must also be limited to 3V, which should be considered in system power design.

The WH1602L1 series offers an optional built-in Chinese font version WG16032D for customers who require enhanced Chinese character display support. The ST7066 controller supports multiple character font versions, including English/Japanese, Western European, Eastern European, Scandinavian European, Cyrillic (Russian), and Hebrew/Arabic, providing excellent localization flexibility.

This dot matrix LCD module is available in several LED backlight colors including yellow-green, blue, green, white, amber, red, and white. The LEDs can be driven via PIN1, PIN2, PIN15, PIN16, or A and K terminals depending on the circuit design.

Interface options for the WH1602L1 series include:

  • WH1602L1: 6800 parallel interface (ST7066 IC)
  • WH1602L2: SPI interface (RW1063 IC)
  • WH1602L3: I2C interface (RW1063 IC)
