WINSTAR Packaging Method Update Announcement | Supporting ESG for Sustainable Development
To support ESG and sustainable development initiatives, WINSTAR will officially implement a new packaging method starting in October 2025. The original packaging method, which used three adhesive tapes on both the top and bottom of the cartons will be changed to a single adhesive tape on the top and another on the bottom. This adjustment will significantly reduce tape usage and plastic consumption (plastic reduction), with an estimated overall tape usage reduction of approximately 40%, further reinforcing our commitment to sustainability.
The tape material has also been upgraded, and the new design has passed reliability tests, including vibration and drop tests, ensuring packaging stability and product safety during transportation.
Due to slight variations in previous tape specifications, below are the unified specifications and performance improvements of the new tape:
- Thickness: 70 μm, increased thickness to enhance overall strength.
- Adhesion Strength: 7.6 kgf/25mm = 74 N/25mm, improved adhesive stability.
- Holding Power: Over 24 hours, ensuring long-lasting adhesion.
- Tensile Strength: 38 N/cm, enhanced tensile resistance.
- Elongation at Break: 150%, providing better elasticity and tear resistance.
Besides reducing the number of adhesive tapes used, the packaging method will still be divided into two types: with strapping bands and without strapping bands.
Comparison of Existing and New Packaging Methods
Image layout description:
Existing packaging method:
Left – Three adhesive tapes | Right – Three adhesive tapes + strapping band
New packaging method:
Left – one adhesive tape | Right – one adhesive tape + strapping band
※ Each method refers to adhesive tape applied to both top and bottom of the package.
Transition Period with Coexistence of Existing and New Packaging Methods
Starting from October, the new packaging method will gradually be introduced. However, the Existing packaging method will continue to be used until the existing tape inventory is depleted. After that, all shipments will fully adopt the new packaging design.
WINSTAR will continue to optimize production and packaging processes to reduce environmental impact while ensuring product quality and delivery stability. Thank you for your understanding and support!
