12.3-inch Wide Temperature IPS TFT Displays for Industrial Applications

WINSTAR presents two models from the WF123E series: WF123ETWAYLNN0 and WF123ESWAYLNN0.

These 12.3-inch IPS TFT-LCD modules feature a wide aspect ratio (1920×720 resolution) and are designed to operate in challenging environments, with a wide temperature range of -30°C to +85°C — ideal for industrial settings.

The two models differ in brightness:

WINSTAR presents two models from the WF70D2 series: WF70D2TWAGLNN0 and WF70D2SWAGLNG0. These 7-inch IPS TFT LCD modules feature a resolution of 800 x 480 dots and support LVDS interface, making them suitable for a wide range of applications. Previously, the WF70D2 series was introduced with an RGB interface, and this new release focuses on LVDS for improved performance in industrial and commercial environments.

The WF40CTYAQMNG10 is a 3.97-inch portrait-mode IPS TFT-LCD display module with a resolution of 480x800 pixels. Designed for vertical layouts, this compact module is ideal for space-constrained industrial equipment, handheld devices, and security monitoring systems. It features a MIPI DSI interface (2-lane) and integrates the ST7701S driver IC for reliable performance.

Featuring IPS technology, these modules deliver consistent image quality and wide viewing angles of 85° in all directions, ensuring excellent readability from any angle.

Integrated Black Display – Seamless Design for Modern Devices

The core concept of Integrated black display technology is to deliver a seamless visual experience when the display is turned off, blending harmoniously into its surroundings to preserve a sleek and modern design at all times. Whether featured in automotive dashboards, smart home devices, or personal electronics, this technology elevates the user's visual experience while enhancing the perceived value of the product. In the following sections, we will discuss its key features, application areas, and the technical methods behind its implementation.

Technology and Methods

The method of realizing the integrated black display effect includes:

  1. Optical bonding (OCA/OCR) : Optical Bonding is used to adhere the TFT-LCD and cover glass to reduce the reflection and refraction of light, improving the overall visual effect. This technology ensures a consistent black appearance at different viewing angles. This contributes to a sleek and modern aesthetic, elevating the overall design appeal.
  2. Gray glass technology : Colorants are added during the manufacturing process of glass to change colorless transparent glass into dark gray glass, also known as gray glass. It adjusts reflectivity and transmittance to ensure a consistent appearance under varying light conditions.

Comparison of Air Bonding and Optical Bonding

  1. Air Bonding : This is a traditional bonding method that uses adhesive tape to bond the cover glass to the TFT-LCD module along the edges of the TFT-LCD, leaving an air gap between the layers. When light passes through the different materials, the air gap causes the refractive index to vary greatly. This causes reflections, glare and visual distortion. (Below left).
  2. Optical Bonding : The process of bonding the cover glass directly to the TFT-LCD, using a transparent adhesive OCA or OCR to fill the air gap layer between the cover glass and the TFT-LCD. This significantly reduces the refractive index and reflective differences across the materials, enhancing the display's visual effect and durability.(Below right)
